Hermosa (Drawingboard.org)

It has been quite some time since I have posted any new work. The reason is because I have not done any new work, until now that is. This was drawn from a photo posted at drawingboar.org in the caricatures' caricatures thread. I believe the persons user name there is Hermosa.

New Blog

This will be my last entry here. I have moved my blog to a new site The Creative Spirit. I will be posting there for now on and hopefully more often than I did here. This is a new goal I am setting for myself. You can read about it at the new blog.

Zombie - Daily Drawing Prompt

The other day I joined a Yahoo! group called Daily Drawing. Each day there is a new prompt posted. I don't think I will be able to do a complete drawing every day, but I have started working on a drawing each day. I started this a couple of days ago and finished it last night. I draw while watching TV at night. I don't like how it turned out so I think I am going to work on it some more before moving onto something new. Comments are welcome.

New ATCs

As an update... the summer of discovery never happened. It was the summer of being lazy and not doing much. That is the past, so here is what I have been doing now. A week or so ago I found a new website for Artist Trading Cards. There is a lot of talent there and I really got inspired to work on some new cards. I started with a Halloween series of 10 cards. When those are completed I'll pick a new theme and do 10 cards from there. Here is a sample of the cards:

Summer of Discovery

Wow! It has been a really long time since I've updated here. In fact, it has been over a year now. I've been really busy with school. This last semester was a rough one. We moved and the boys are still doing soccer. On to the summer of discovery. I have been doing a lot of thinking about myself as an artist. I feel that I have not yet found myself or come to terms with my work. I have decided to experiment this summer. I am going to throw it all to the wind and get crazy. For those of you who know me and know my work also know that getting crazy for me means not erasing a smudge on my paper. That is going to change. Expect a whole new look and feel from Art by Ro!!

EDM Challenge #51

My attempt at drawing our TV with CSI playing on it. Why do drawings always look worse when you post them on the internet? I did this with a Bic pen, no under drawing. I found it to be quite the challenge but I still had fun doing it.

Water Droplets

This morning I started reading the Creative License by Danny Gregory. After finishing the first chapter I went up and took my shower. For the first time I really SAW my shower. I have always loved water droplets but for the first time I looked at them with fresh eyes. I studied them and noticed how they are dark on the bottom (even water has a shadow) and they all had a very bright highlight at the top. They were beautiful! I would have never thought a shower could be so relaxing (seeing took it to a new level). I am already impressed with the book.

The drawing was done on colored cardstock with colored pencils. I didn't get the exact look I wanted though. It seems it's hard for me to draw water.
